Charles Roberts

Charles Roberts is a medically trained serial biotech entrepreneur focused on the intersection of AI and preventative healthcare, using systems biology. Charles is a co-founder and Chairperson of Relation, where in addition to his board role he focuses on catalysing long term strategy and innovation. Charles is also the Chief Investment Strategist at ARK, where he sits on the Investment Committee for the ARK Venture Fund, ARK's public-private crossover fund, and leads the ARK VC team. Previously, he has been a cofounding executive at a number of companies including Freenome, a Bay Area based company of ~550 people working on saving lives through earlier cancer detection. Freenome has raised over $1.3B for its mission, from some of the world’s leading biotechnology and technology investors, and strategic investor Roche who have invested over $400M as of 2024. Charles holds four degree-level qualifications, having graduated with degrees in Psychology (BSc., University College London, 2001), in Medicine (University of Dundee, 2002), MRCS ((Ed), 2006), and Masters (MSc., University of Oxford, 2014).
